Background information

Canadian Atlas of Bird Banding Maps

These maps summarize the results of birds banded in Canada or encountered in Canada. An encounter map is available for species with at least one record of an individual moving more that 100 km. The lines on the map join the point of banding and encounter. These maps provide information on movement patterns, wintering destinations and migration routes of Canada's birds.
