Background information

Birds of North America

The Birds of North America (BNA) Online provides comprehensive life histories for each of the 716+ species of birds breeding in the United States (including Hawaii) and Canada. The BNA began as a joint project of the American Ornithologists’ Union, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, and the Academy of Natural Sciences, which culminated in a 18,000 page, 18 volume printed publication. All accounts are now online and updated frequently.
