Population status

American Wigeon
(Anas americana)

In the Canadian Prairies, the American Wigeon population is still well below the North American Waterfowl Management Plan (NAWMP) objectives. However, at the continental level, the population is above the NAWMP objectives, in part because the species’ breeding range exhibited a continued eastward expansion.
