Population status

Blue-winged Teal
(Anas discors)

While the national population is at an all-time high there are still some concerns for some local populations. The western boreal forest population is still below the population goal of the North American Waterfowl Management Plan and the population in southern Ontario and Quebec experienced significant declines in past decades. Detailed information on the population status of waterfowl species is available in the Population Status of Migratory Game Birds in Canada report (summarized version).
