The subspecies of Common Ringed Plover found in Canada (C. h. psammodroma) breeds from the eastern Canadian Arctic east to Iceland, and winters principally in West Africa. This subspecies is believed to be declining in Northern Europe, Siberia, Canada, Greenland and Iceland (Wetlands International 2006), but there is no information specific to the portion of the population in Canada.
