Population status

Sage Thrasher
(Oreoscoptes montanus)

The Sage Thrasher is too rare in Canada to be monitored by the Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) and there are few other sources of data. Direct counts of birds in British Columbia combined with scattered reports from Alberta and Saskatchewan suggest a reasonably unchanging, though very small, population in Canada (COSEWIC 2010j). BBS results for North America suggest the continental population has shown a moderate decline since the late 1960s.
