Population status

Blue-headed Vireo
(Vireo solitarius)

The Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) is the most reliable source of data for the Blue-headed Vireo, although there is a lack of coverage for the northern portion of the species' breeding population. BBS results indicate that the population has exhibited a fairly steady increase in numbers since the early 1970s both within Canada and continent-wide. The Blue-headed Vireo is at an acceptable level relative to its national population goal (see Canada graph below).
