Population status

Chukar
(Alectoris chukar)

The Chukar is not well monitored in Canada. Data from the Breeding Bird Survey are too sparse to calculate a trend for Canada. Christmas Bird Count results, based on 12 count circles, in southern British Columbia suggest a large decrease in population. However, because of the small sample size and poor precision of the trend estimate the reliability of this assessment is considered low. A national population goal has not been established for this introduced species.
