Population status

Eurasian Collared-Dove
(Streptopelia decaocto)

The Breeding Bird Survey and Christmas Bird Count are the best available sources of information on population trends for this introduced species. The Eurasian Collared-Dove only began to occur regularly in Canada in 2002, and data from both surveys suggest a dramatic increase in the population since then. Despite low precision of both results, the magnitude of the increase leaves little doubt that the national and continental populations have increased. A national population goal has not been established for this introduced species.
