The Breeding Bird Survey is the most reliable source of data for the House Wren, with good coverage of the species' breeding population. Results indicate that the House Wren has shown a small increase (11%) in abundance, but overall relatively little change since 1970. At the regional level, population trends vary from increases in the core of the Canadian range in the Prairie Potholes and the Lower Great Lakes / St. Lawrence Plains Bird Conservation Regions (BCRs) to apparent decreases in parts of the boreal (Boreal Hardwood Transition and Boreal Taiga Plains BCRs). The House Wren is at an acceptable level relative to its national population goal (see Canada graph below).
