A vocal bird with a recognizable song, the Ovenbird is well suited to monitoring by the Breeding Bird Survey (BBS), which covers about half the Canadian breeding population. Overall, BBS results indicate that the current population is similar that in 1970, both within Canada and throughout its North American range. Regional results are generally consistent with the national trend. The Ovenbird is at an acceptable level relative to its national population goal (see Canada graph below).
