The Breeding Bird Survey provides good coverage of the population of Ring-necked Pheasant in Canada, and is the best source of monitoring data for this species; results indicate that the current population is similar to that in 1970. However, at the regional level, trends among the Bird Conservation Regions (BCRs) in which the species occurs vary widely; numbers have increased in the Atlantic Northern Forest but decreased in the Lower Great Lakes / St. Lawrence Plain and western BCRs. A national population goal has not been established for this introduced species.
