Populations of this species are well monitored by the Breeding Bird Survey, which covers some 70% of its breeding population in Canada. The abundance of Rock Pigeon has remained relatively unchanged since 1970. At the regional level, trends vary among the Bird Conservation Regions (BCRs) that host the species and for which there are reliable results (displayed below), varying from large increases in the Atlantic Northern Forest and Boreal Hardwood Transition BCRs, to decreases in the Northern Pacific Rainforest and Lower Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Plain BCRs. A national population goal has not been established for this introduced species.
